They were there because they responded to an email that Bankers Trust had sent to their commercial accounts, inviting them to the event they sponsored.

Verne Harnish has long lauded Kip Tindell’s book Uncontainable as one of the best business books he’s ever read. Perhaps it was my frame of mind or his voice, but I must confess that when I began listening to the audio version of Uncontainable I was less than impressed. Kip is the voice on the audio version and I simply found myself losing interest as he continued to preach his philosophy on The Container Store and how he influenced its growth.

In Fred Reichheld’s first book The Ultimate Question introducing Net Promoter Score, the standard for gauging Customer Satisfaction, he spoke about a specific issue that many companies have deriving what he called “bad profits” from their customers. An example he gave at the time was staying at a hotel and having to use the phone from your room to make call. At the time of the book’s publishing many hotels were charging exorbitant fees to call, especially long distance calls.
