Hope is a Beggar

Written by Douglas A Wick | Mon, Oct 3, 2022

Hope is a beggar. Jim Carrey’s Quote is appropriate. It clarifies the difference between Hope and Faith. In the dictionary, Hope is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best or a particular instance of this feeling.

Faith is confidence or trust in a person or thing or belief that is not based on proof.

Hope is not a strategy.

Wanting something means you believe you don't have it.

Which you don't want to believe, or you may never get it.

That’s Hope!

A FAITH-FILLED STRATEGY

What you and your team want to develop is a strategy based on faith.

This involves much more work.  it requires developing a plan to feed confidence. It means understanding your market, your customer, your strengths, your weaknesses, developing key differentiators to create a unique and valuable position involving a different set of activities. It means building a purpose-driven culture that thrives on accountability, led by managers who coach their team to make good decisions without requiring significant guidance.

One of the reasons I added Metronomics to my coaching toolkit is its compatibility with Scaling Up. Metronomics expands Scaling Up strategy tools providing a differentiated position to occupy which you follow through the 3HAG Swimlanes. It’s methodical, and rhythmic, building confidence in you and your team as you add elements to your business’s development and structure.

CONFIDENCE

Winning teams gain confidence. All teams set goals, yet only the teams with the best systems achieve the results they set out to achieve! That’s why the Metronomics approach produces such great outcomes. As James Clear notes in Atomic Habits, “You do not rise to the levels of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.

You need a great system to raise your outcome.

To produce great outcomes you need to take the right actions

The 3HAG WAY, Metronomics provides the tools and actions to produce results significantly better than your current system.

RESILIENCY COACH

In 2012 I faced an encounter with a relentless enemy. Cancer – Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Entering the hospital with 84% of my bone marrow cancerous, I eventually was faced with less than a 2% chance of survival.

Of course, my goal was to beat AML. However, my focus was on a system I’d created following the principles I learned in Scaling Up with my customers and building my own coaching business. The activities and systems I followed, and those I created with the specific intention of beating cancer provided the confidence and faith required to win. I’m here today because of the habits I followed in my coaching practice.

You too can develop the habits to be resilient in the face of any obstacle, and to win in your personal and professional business Olympics each year!

Make the decision to improve your habits.

This year when you go into your Strategic Planning for 2023, start with the right tools that will give you and your team the confidence your actions/habits will produce the outcome you truly want.
