Is Meeting a Dirty Word?

Posted by Douglas Wick on Mon, Apr 15, 2013

Is the mood in your company for meetings one of anticipation or aversion?

A prospect this past week reacted to the suggestion of meetings by indicating they have to be careful in their organization to mention the word meeting.  His people dislike meetings and generally greet them with annoyance and impatience.  It suggests that the meetings they’ve conducted in the past are possibly disorganized, not well prepared, unexciting, lack conflict and do little to energize those participating.  It’s also a reflection of what I believe many businesses suffer from.  They feel meetings are boring, and a necessary evil.

Allow me to reflect on my current condition and place this in perspective.  I’m currently suffering from a condition called dry mouth.  It’s a symptom of Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD)which can occur after bone marrow transplant for leukemia patients.

Superstar Catalyst – Valentine’s Day Tribute

Posted by Douglas Wick on Thu, Feb 14, 2013

t’s most appropriate that on Valentine’s Day that I share with you the person in my life that inspires me and that has proven to be a “Super Star” in the category of a Catalyst.  On Valentine’s Day it is my sincere hope you have someone special in your life that is so loving, caring, and determined to help you live to your fullest. Share your love for her this day.  My wife Michelle is without a doubt the person that has helped me the most through my AML and Bone Marrow Transplant.  In many cases I’m not even aware of everything she is doing to contribute to my recovery and remaining clear of any germs and immune deficiency issues.

And bring it in a way that I least expect, that wakes me up from this dream, and leaves no doubt that it has come from you, so that I am inspired to do this again tomorrow.”  The voice of Joe Dispensa’s softly speaks to me at the conclusion of meditation

What’s Your One Thing for the 1st Quarter? GVHD Update

Posted by Douglas Wick on Thu, Jan 10, 2013

I’m excited.  When my clients respond and do something that is powerful and gets them excited I am too!   Yesterday I got a PowerPoint from one of my client’s sharing their theme for the company for their first trimester of 2013!  It was incredibly well done, simple, powerful, clear and concise!   It’s their first effort to establish the Rockefeller Habits theme process although we’ve been working together for some time.  That’s often a good idea.  Start simple with the process of Strategic Discipline.  Less is More!  Get your leadership team fully understanding the fundamentals and then move forward with your theme to the company fully when you have your sea legs.
